Auditions for Witch by Jen Silverman at the Guild Hall

Auditions: August 20, 5-9pm, and August 22, 10am-5pm
ROLES:
ELIZABETH SAWYER – (female*, 30s+) An outcast.
SCRATCH – (male*, 20s+) The devil.
SIR ARTHUR – (male*, 30s+) A wealthy and powerful man.
CUDDY – (male*, 18-30) Sir Arthur’s son, painfully shy, a Morris dancer.
FRANK THORNEY – (male*, 18-30) A confident, ambitious and successful young man, charming and ruthless.
WINNIFRED – (female*, 18-30) Sir Arthur’s servant, resigned and pragmatic, secretly married to Frank.
*These are the genders of the characters only - they may be played by actors of any gender
Time: 1600’s, but also now. The dialogue is contemporary. No accents required.
Place: Britain, but also here.
In this witty and thought-provoking play, a charming devil arrives in a quiet village to bargain for the souls of its residents in exchange for their darkest wishes. Elizabeth should be his easiest target, having been labeled a “witch” and cast out by the town, but her soul is not so readily bought…
REHEARSAL & PERFORMANCE DATES:
Rehearsals will begin September 2, and run Tuesday-Friday 6-10pm, and Saturdays 10am-5pm. Performances will run Wednesday-Saturday evenings at the Guild Hall, Oct. 7-24.
